2019 year in review…

2020 will be my 10th year of running Big-Bot Design. What began as a straightforward Graphic Design service has become an art imprint, allowed me to create and host art shows and connect with our region and amazing community of creatives in ways I couldn't have imagined ten years ago.

To anyone who has hired me, purchased artwork, volunteered, attended and helped promote my shows, THANK YOU. There are far too many people to mention that have helped me on my journey over this decade but please know how much you are valued and appreciated by me. I quite literally could not have gotten anywhere without the supportive community I'm so thankful to be a part of.

The past year has been a period of intense transition that actually began in 2018. There has been tremendous personal loss and challenges to contend with while I navigated who I was as a creative and where I wanted to go. I enter 2020 feeling re-focused, re-charged and excited for what the future holds.

I finished out 2019 with some of my favorite projects of my career. Big highlights include:

•Illustrated Maps for the Experience Fayetteville remodel. I love Fayetteville deeply and being able to be a part of its' story in this way is very meaningful for me.

•The Bentonville Handbook that is going to be released in early 2020. It's a huge project and something I'm incredibly proud of. Thanks to Mike Abb for bringing me on this project!

•Helping local public radio station KUAF celebrate their history with the creation of their 10-Watt Wonder logo and creating their Summer Swing posters and KUAF Live album cover!

•Working with Fossil Cove Brewery. This is a great local company that produces amazing beer and has been a wonderful creative collaborator. There are more can designs coming out very soon!

•Developing the branding for Eureka Spring Brewery was an incredibly fun project. Working with breweries always seems like a good fit for me!

•Launching the first full Death-Ray Illustration + Print Expo this June in Fayetteville. Death-Ray was born from my experience creating the Cattywampus Co-Op craft shows that allowed me to first integrate my many talented friends in our illustration community into a show. Death-Ray exists to promote visual story telling and the power of illustration. I'm excited for reveal what the 2020 version of the show will look like!

•Getting my Myth of Me comic begun and debuted in an issue of the Idle Class this year! The Myth of Me is about the human stories of creating your own mythology. Each issue will feature illustrated handbook entries of people who exemplify this to me, along with comics of personal stories and essays. Issue 1 will launch in 2020!

•Being a part of the Class of 2019 of Artist Inc. Artist Inc. is a wonderful program that helps train artists to run their creative practice like a business. I highly recommend it to any of artists out there. Learn more HERE

Thanks to everyone who hired me in 2019! There is no way to show all the wonderful things I'm allowed to work on in a year but please know that your support of Big-Bot Design means the world to me and is truly valued.

My world is full of talented, kind, generous people whom I'm honored to call friends and peers and I'm excited to see what 2020 has for us all.
