Big-Bot Design at Crystal Bridges Space Project Celebration

Posted by Chad Maupin on

Saturday, January 19, Big-Bot Design will be at the Crystal Bridges Space Project Celebration from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m..

I've been invited to attend and help promote their Art in Space event which will allow you to witness artist Robert Pruitt send an original artwork into space during this special launch party on the museum grounds!

The event will begin at 9 a.m. with special activities planned, including binocular-making, hot cocoa, and space-themed fun with the Amazeum! The launch will happen at 10 a.m. with a spoken-word performance by Houston-based artist Maurice Duhon Jr. to commemorate the event, and a music composition by JAWWAAD.

You can learn more HERE.

All of this coolness is being done to promote and launch Crystal Bridges upcoming Men of Steel, Women of Wonder art exhibit starting next month!

As an illustrator and HUGE comic book art fan I'm incredibly excited to see this exhibit and hope it's the beginning of more exhibits highlighting comic book artwork.

The exhibit examines art-world responses to Superman and Wonder Woman, ranging from their Depression-era origins to today’s contemporary artist interpretations. The exhibition features over 70 paintings, photographs, installations, videos, and more by over 50 artists.

To celebrate all of this I'm going to create an original drawing I'm giving to ONE OF YOU who has read this blog post and attends the Art in Space event THIS SATURDAY January 19.

All you have to do is find me and tell me the name of the creators of Wonder Woman and/or Superman and the drawing is yours!

I'm also giving away copies of our Death-Ray comic to other attendees as an additional reward to coming to this amazing event.  Just find me and say "Death-Ray!" and you can take home a free comic made from some of your favorite local Cool Kids!

See you this Saturday!
